Ideas to promote speech and language development in pre school children:
-
Listen to your child and notice what they are trying to communicate with you.
-
Get down to your child's level.
-
Talk about what they are doing.
-
Use simple language and repeat words.
-
Have fun with music, songs and nursery rhymes.
-
Share books and stories.
-
Limit the amount of screen time.
-
Engage in imaginative play together (dressing up, playmobile, dolls etc.)
-
Provide messy play (water, sand, play dough etc.)
-
Do inset puzzles together.
-
Play games that involve matching shapes and colours, many games that target this are available from Orchard Toys https://www.orchardtoys.com
